Custom Gemstone Beaded Jewelry

Jewelries made from gemstones/birthstones can be very exceptional. Numerous gemstones are said to have special meanings.  When used as jewelry, mixture of gemstones with therapeutic and other mystic traits can be very fascinating.  Designs made with stones of similar color are very useful.  The range of hues and shades within a color results to an exceedingly striking piece of jewelry.  Incorporation of unusually shaped beads into an item of jewelry will offer a very appealing focal point.  There are loads of unusual bead sizes and shapes readily available and these can bestow inspiration for an entire piece.

Custom gemstone beaded jewelries are abundant in the market.  Many artisan and large jewelers are venturing into it – but no matter who makes it, custom gemstone beaded jewelries always posses that mystery.  Perhaps, this character is owed to or basically because of the story behind each and every gem incorporated in the design.  Gemstones are skillfully cut, polished or faceted and then delicately crafted or made into beads to be aesthetically beautiful and also individually unique.

The story of gemstones dates back to even in as far as days of antiquity.  During these period men could not determine their origins or explain the sparkling stones. It is not overwhelming that they thought that these intriguing items possess mystical powers. Bizarre origins have been suggested over the years for these stones like:

       • Those rock crystals were ice eternally frozen by extreme cold.
       • The Sapphire was fashioned by the earth’s extreme dryness joint with the sun’s  powerful action.
       • That amber was a creation of bird’s tears and lynxes’ urine.

During the Stone Age, prehistoric men became attracted with gold, which was fairly uncomplicated to melt and to cast. From this, the earliest pieces of jewelry were created.  Copper and silver were quarried during the Bronze Age and ornaments, jewels and cult statuettes were crafted from bronze, copper and stones of unusually remarkable color or shape.

Ornaments of pure gold were made by Greeks until roughly 400 BC when a range of gems and cameos were used. Roman jewelry was huge with ropes of pearls and medieval jewelry consisted of very large brooches. In the period of Renaissance, men and women alike wore jeweled collars, gold chains and pendants. These were frequently designed and occasionally even rendered by renowned artists. Ornaments adorned with stones were put on to excess in the late 17th century.

Jewelry was nearly outmoded in the late l8th century by ornamental buttons, snuffboxes and watches, but the 19th century brought the revitalization of the bracelet and the cameo. In the 2Oth century, when manufacturing of jewelries in factories began, artistry weakened and custom jewelry was instituted by Gabrielle Chanel. Conversely, there has been improved interest in hand-fashioned jewelry given that of the craft’s revival around 1960s.

From then on, custom jewelries made from different materials like silver, gold, and even gemstones ranging from seals, ornaments, accessories have been created and used.  Handcrafted jewelries have been commissioned here and there to be given as gifts or added to a collection.  GP
